The Buckle GT Tourer is a passenger car manufactured by Buckle Motors Pty. Ltd. built by Bill Buckle in Sydney between 1956 and 1960 and was only sold in Australia .
The GT Tourer had a two-door coupé body made of GRP , a transverse leaf spring at the front and a rigid axle from Ford with longitudinal leaf springs at the rear . It was powered by a six-cylinder in-line engine from the Ford Zephyr and also had a number of other high-volume components. The car weighed only 865 kg and reached a top speed of 160 km / h. The rear seats of the 2 + 2-seater could be folded down and there was an adjustable steering column and electrically operated door locks. Back then, these were very modern and still unusual equipment details.
Despite considerable success in motorsport with various drivers, including Buckle himself, only 25 examples were built, including the 1955 prototype. Buckle, however, built various derivatives of the Goggomobil in the future ; the most famous of these was the Goggomobil dart .
