Business impact analysis

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Business Impact Analysis ( BIA ) is in Business Continuity Management (BCM) a method for collecting and identifying processes and functions within an organization in order to record the resources on which the processes are based. Furthermore, a BIA can show mutual dependencies between processes and / or company areas, the effects of process failures, the criticality of each process for the entire group and the required recovery time. Together with a risk analysis , the BIA forms the basis for a security strategy, which in turn can support the company in emergencies and crises.

The BIA is an essential part of the BSI Standard 100-4, which deals with the aspect of business continuity management .
