The DFS 193 was a projected test aircraft of the German Research Institute for Glider Flight (DFS).
The aircraft was designed in 1936 by Alexander Lippisch and DFS designer Roth, although both had different opinions regarding the design. The basic structure of the aircraft was similar to the Storch IX by Alexander Lippisch and the Gotha Go 147 .
The DFS 193 was a two-seat, tailless test aircraft in high - wing design . This was intended to investigate the military use of tailless aircraft. It was probably primarily intended to be used as a close-up reconnaissance aircraft, with which the rear gunner would have had an almost undisturbed field of fire. An Argus As 10 C with 240 hp was planned as the engine . A model was examined around 1936 in the AVA Göttingen wind tunnel ; a prototype was no longer built.
