Butmir culture

The Butmir Culture is an archaeological culture of the Neolithic , in the region of Ilidža , Bosnia and Herzegovina . It has a unique ceramic and is one of the best-researched cultures in Europe from around 5500 to 4500 BC. Chr.

Numerous traces of human settlements were discovered in 1893 and excavated by 1896. The ceramics found there are now in the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina . Certain characteristics of Butmir ceramics (e.g. similarities with Minoan ceramics ) suggest that there was a connection to the Minoan culture in Crete .
