Buttigieg ( pronunciation ^{? / I} , Maltese : [ bʊtːɪd͡ʒɪːt͡ʃ ]) is a Maltese family name . It is derived from Sicilian Arabic أبو الدجاج Abu-d-dajāj (i) ab and denotes a poultry dealer or farmer (from abu "father, master, owner" and dajāj "poultry").
