Byrums raukar (dt. Rauken von Byrum ) is a rough area on the west coast of the Swedish island of Öland near the village of Byrum .
In the area on the banks of Kalmarsund , which has also been declared a nature reserve , there are around 120 of these limestone pillars , known as rockets. The largest of the pillars are about four meters high. The pillars were created by the erosion of softer limestone caused by ocean waves .
Fossils are found particularly in the southern part of the reserve . So were Ortoceratiten and trilobites found. The vegetation grows sparse in the small barren nature reserve. Only plants adapted to drought and plenty of light are at home.
