The Cóndor is a German-language foreign newspaper in Chile . It was founded in 1938, making it the third oldest newspaper in Chile and the only one in the German language.
The newspaper goes back to a merger of several publications by the German immigrants who settled in Chile from 1850. With the name “Cóndor”, the German-Chilean community expressed its solidarity with the country of Chile, whose coat of arms is adorned with the bird of the same name . The "Cóndor" is one of the oldest German-language newspapers outside the closed German-speaking area. It is particularly well known for its innovative design.

The “Cóndor” reporting focuses on news from Chile, Germany and Europe in the fields of politics, economy, culture, education, sport and tourism.
In addition, there are special editions with different topics such as tourism, German Unity Day, renewable energies and much more. The children's supplement "Kondor Junior" appears twice a month.
Circulation, range and employees
The weekly newspaper has a circulation of 7,000 copies and the distribution area extends from Santiago de Chile to the south of the country. Some copies also go to Germany. The newspaper also offers a free online presence at www.condor.cl. The editorial team consists of the editor-in-chief Silvia Kählert, two other editors and freelancers. A total of ten employees work at the "Cóndor".
