IECEE / CEE

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

IECEE stands for International Commission on the Rules for the Approval of Electrical Equipment, a standardization body of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The IEC uses the name IECEE for the IEC System for Conformity Testing and Certification of Electrotechnical Equipment and Components (IEC system for conformity assessment systems for electrical equipment and components) better known as the CB system

The IECEE CB system based in Geneva is the same as the old CEE - CB system that created the CEE standards (e.g. CEE system ). The CEE was a European standardization body founded under the name Commission Internationale de réglementation en vue de l'approbation de l'équipement électrique / International Commission for Rules for the Assessment of Electrotechnical Products A CEE standard describes Conformité de l'équipement électrique / Certification of electrotechnical devices. Historically, this certification goes back to an initiative of the German VDE ( Association of Electrical, Electronics and Information Technology ) in 1929.

CB Scheme

The IEC CB Scheme is a multilateral agreement that facilitates market access for manufacturers of electrical and electronic products.

The origin of the CB Scheme comes from the CEE (former European "Commission for Conformity Testing of Electrical Equipment") and was integrated in the IEC in 1985. There are currently 54 member bodies in the IECEE, 88 NCBs (National Certification Bodies), and 534 CB test laboratories (CBTL). In the area of product certification, this procedure is used to take the complexity out of the approval process for manufacturers of products that are tested and certified according to harmonized standards. A product that has been tested by a CBTL ( certified testing laboratory ) according to a harmonized standard and received a CB report has this as the basis for a later national certification and approval such as GS, PSE, CCC, NOM, GOST / R, BSMI. In Germany there are currently a large number of service providers and laboratories that are accredited as NCB and CBTL in the CB Scheme.

CEE standards

standard description
CEE 7 describes sockets and connectors in domestic use in Europe. The standard is mostly referred to because of the CEE 7/7 hybrid connection, which has replaced the Schuko plug connector as the European standard. The CEE 7/16 connector, on the other hand, is usually called a Euro plug .
CEE 13 describes the requirements for cable insulation made of polyvinyl chloride . Has been replaced by CENELEC HD-21 / HD-22 and later IEC 227/245
CEE 17 describes a connector system for industrial use including three-phase plugs up to 250 amps. This was later adopted as IEC 309 and renamed IEC 60309 in 1999 . The designation as a CEE three-phase plug refers to this standard.
CEE 22 describes device plugs for domestic use. This was adopted as IEC 320 and later renamed to IEC 60320 . The designation CEE 22 warm device plug refers to the warm device plug according to IEC 320 C15, which is very similar to the cold device plug C14, as it can be found on many power packs of PCs.
