Type approval

In the case of a type approval , Austrian typification , technical descriptions and drawings are used to check whether the design and properties of a device / product manufactured for a specific purpose comply with the regulations applicable for this purpose . An approval of every single device / product (individual license) is no longer required with other members design approval.

The type approval is usually carried out on the basis of laws / ordinances by a commissioned authority .

National

Germany

Regulations on a type approval contain z. B. the following legal norms of the Federal Republic of Germany :

  • the section 33 of the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG), which (in conjunction with section 3 paragraph 5 numbers 1 and 2) the type approval of operating facilities, other fixed facilities, machines, devices and other portable technical facilities as well as vehicles, insofar as they are not the Regulation of § 38 governs;
  • the §§ 25-27 Radiation Protection Regulation (StrlSchV) in conjunction with Annex V , the approval of the type of equipment and other devices in the other radioactive substances according to § 2 paragraph 1 of the Atomic Energy Act are inserted, and of systems for generation of ionizing radiation (type-approved devices) regulates.

Up to and including February 28, 2010, the German Water Resources Act (WHG) contained provisions relating to a type approval in its then Section 19h (2). If such a type approval was issued before March 1, 2010 according to Section 19h (2) of the Water Management Act, it was on February 28, 2010 valid version has been issued, it releases according to § 105 paragraph 3 sentence 2 of the Water Resources Act from the requirement of the suitability assessment according to § 63 paragraph 1 Water Management Act.
