CEE "camping socket": 230 V, 16 A, "Blue-6h-16A"
CEE 7/16 euro plug (type C)

With the CEE system ( CEE stands for C ommission on the Rules for the Approval of the E lectrical E quipment or German: International Commission for the control of the Approval of Electrical Equipment ) was established by EEC made the attempt in Europe common connector to harmonize for mains voltage . The national plug systems were seen as a trade barrier and should be replaced by a Europe-wide uniform system, the CEE system. This proposal was rejected by CENELEC in autumn 1996 . This project resulted in a list and numbering of the common connector systems that are still in use to characterize the connector systems. Example: The German Schuko plug is labeled CEE 7/4.

Examples

CEE three-phase plug: 400 V, 32 A.

An incomplete list of Series 7 CEE connector standards:

standard description
CEE 7/3 German Schuko socket (type F)
CEE 7/4 German Schuko plug (type F)
CEE 7/5 French socket (socket type E)
CEE 7/6 French plug ( plug type E )
CEE 7/7 Union of plug type E and Schuko (type F)
CEE 7/16 Euro plug ( plug type C )
CEE 7/17 Contour plug

"CEE plug"

Although all approved plug connections are standardized according to CEE, the use of this standard has only rudimentarily established itself in the designation of two connection types, which are referred to as CEE three-phase plug connectors and CEE plug devices. The most common connectors according to the IEC 60309 standard are :

  • the red three-phase 400 V three-phase plug (colloquially high-voltage plug )
  • the blue single-phase 230 V plug (colloquially camping plug )
