Kirchdorf am Inn (officially: Kirchdorf a.Inn ) is a municipality in the Lower Bavarian district of Rottal-Inn on the border with Austria .

Geographical location
Kirchdorf is located in the extensive valley basin of the Inn about five kilometers west of Simbach or six kilometers from Braunau , 25 km east of Altötting , 23 km northeast of Burghausen and 27 km south of the district town of Pfarrkirchen . Kirchdorf am Inn forms the southernmost municipality in Lower Bavaria and borders directly on Upper Bavaria and Upper Austria .

history
Archaeological finds are already available from prehistoric times. The district Machendorf was first mentioned in the 9th century as Mochundorf . Kirchdorf, originally a part of Machendorf, got its current name in 1507 when the church was built.
For a long time the landlords at the site were the lords of Seibersdorf, originally called Seifriedsdorf , who were followed by the Offenheimers. Among them, Seibersdorf was raised to Hofmark by the Bavarian duke in 1544 , and around this time the Seiberdorf Castle was built in its current form.
In 1818, the Kirchdorf community was formed from the Kirchdorf presidency and the Ritzing and Seibersdorf court brands .
Population development
Between 1988 and 2018, the municipality grew from 4,178 to 5,354 by 1,176 inhabitants or by 28.2%.

Culture and sights
Buildings
- The parish church Maria Himmelfahrt is a late Gothic complex around 1500. In 1736 the tower was rebuilt. The stately high altar from 1689 contains a seated figure of Mary and depictions of Saints Barbara and Catherine (around 1510–20) as well as figures from the 17th century.

Sports
The TSC Boogie Lipsticks e. V. has set itself the goal of promoting general dance sport in Kirchdorf am Inn and the surrounding area, but especially to revive the boogie-woogie (dance) of the 1950s and 1960s.
TSV Kirchdorf am Inn and FC Julbach-Kirchdorf offer a wide range of sports activities. Among other things, an American football team, the Kirchdorf Wildcats , has been at home since the beginning of 2004 and will play in the German Football League , the first German Bundesliga for American football, from the 2018 season . TSV Kirchdorf has departments for archery, boogie woogie, American football, soccer, gymnastics women / men and children, judo, record throwing, rehabilitation sports, stick shooting and tennis. In addition, he offers the leisure groups volleyball, Nordic walking, cheerleading, Tang Soo Do and a theater group.
The sports center is located below the parish church. The extensive area covers an area of approx. 5.5 hectares in a meadow landscape. The airfield is in the immediate vicinity.

With the car Kirchdorf is directly across the B 12 , the future federal highway 94 to achieve. The nearest train stations are Julbach, three kilometers away, and Simbach train station on the Munich – Simbach railway line .
The airfield Kirchdorf / Inn is a special airfield . There, flight operations are permitted for aircraft up to a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of 3000 kg and for helicopters up to 5700 kg.
education
In Kirchdorf there is a primary and secondary school, the Kirchdorf a. Inn. In 1969, it moved into a newly built building and, as the elementary and Inntal secondary school in Kirchdorf am Inn, is part of the Inntal secondary school association.
