Geratskirchen is a municipality in the Lower Bavarian district of Rottal-Inn and a member of the administrative community of Massing .

Geographical location

Geratskirchen is located in the Landshut region in a small tributary valley of the Rott and borders Upper Bavaria in the south . The small town of Geratskirchen is located about 13 km southwest of Eggenfelden , 30 km southeast of Vilsbiburg , 18 km northeast of Mühldorf and 16 km north of Altötting .

history

Until the 19th century

In 1347 Elisabeth von Geratskirchen married Rudiger Maroltinger. The Maroltinger or Moroltinger owned the Hofmark Geratskirchen for about 300 years. On February 24, 1637, Johann Mändl von und zu Deutenhoven took over the property, after his death on August 12, 1666 his son Hans Ulrich and in 1686 his son Anton Josef Adam Mändl, Freiherr von und zu Deutenhoven, Lord von Münchsdorf , Wolfsegg, Waldberg, Regenpeilstein and Geratskirchen followed.

The place was part of the Electorate of Bavaria , but formed a closed Hofmark , whose seat was Geratskirchen. Maria Caroline Charlotte von Spreti, b. von Ingenheim acquired the fiefdom in 1729. In 1752 the ducal seats of Geratskirchen and Wolfsegg were divided, the new owners were the Freiherrn von Viereck. These also exercised the lower jurisdiction . In 1752 the village of Geratskirchen had 20 properties. On December 23, 1778, Franz Nono Adam Freiherr von Mändl received the fiefdom of Geratskirchen and Wolfsegg, which was taken over in 1780 by Count Arco .

In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , with the parish edict of 1818, today's parish was created, initially divided into the patrimonial parish of Geratskirchen I and the regional court parish of Geratskirchen II. The parishes of Geratskirchen I and II were merged on December 16, 1848. The lower jurisdiction of the Counts of Arco was not abolished until the same year, 1848.

20th century

On November 22, 1944, 49 bombs dropped by American planes in Stadlthann killed ten civilians.

On August 3, 1956, the Geratskirchen community was renamed Wald bei Winhöring . On January 1, 1967, she took on part of the dissolved community of Eggen. In the course of the regional reform in Bavaria , forest was incorporated into Pleiskirchen on January 1, 1972 . Since May 1st 1978 Geratskirchen belongs to the administrative community Massing.

Architectural monuments

The late Gothic parish church of St. Martin was built in 1472 and extended to the west in 1880. It has Gothic and Baroque figures. An extension to the northern part of the church was carried out in 1908 and lined with "tuff" as the "Lourdes Grotto".

Economy including agriculture and forestry
