The Kirchdorf / Inn airfield is the special airfield of the Lower Bavarian municipality of Kirchdorf am Inn . It is run by the Kirchdorf / Inn e. V. operated.

geography

The airfield is located immediately south of the Kirchdorf district of Ritzing in the Ritzinger Au parcel at an altitude of 347  m above sea level. NN . The Inn flows one kilometer south . The state border with Austria also runs there .

history

Aviation has been in operation in Kirchdorf since 1951, initially using the grounds of neighboring clubs. In the summer of 1963, the current site was occupied and since then has been continuously expanded into an airfield.

Airfield and equipment

The airfield is approved for all types of aircraft up to 3000 kg maximum take-off weight (MTOW), helicopters up to 5700 kg. The area belongs to the municipality of Kirchdorf and the operator is the Fliegerclub Kirchdorf / Inn e. V.

There are several farm buildings, a tower , three hangars and a clubhouse. There is a petrol station and an oil service is available for stopovers.

Incidents

  • On October 28, 2000, a Diamond DA20 Katana launched on EDNK lost the Plexiglas of the canopy at an altitude of 100 meters above Braunau am Inn . The two pilots made an emergency landing.
  • On July 1, 2001, a Brditschka HB-21 suddenly sagged on landing and hit hard, with the nose landing gear tearing off. The machine was badly damaged, the pilot got away with the horror.
  • On April 9, 2017, a plane stationed on EDNK had an accident after landing on private land in Austria. During take-off the nose wheel broke, the aircraft overturned and was badly damaged. The pilot was not injured.
  • On November 9, 2017, a car driver misappropriated the runway of the airfield for unauthorized rally driving exercises, which damaged the runway, which was softened due to the weather. The young pilot left at first fleetingly.

traffic

A municipal road opens up the airfield to the federal highway 12 , which runs immediately to the south . The public transport does not serve the airport directly. In Julbach , two kilometers to the north, there is an option to board the Mühldorf – Simbach railway line .
