The airfield Treuchtlingen-Bubenheim is the airport of the Middle Franconian town Treuchtlingen in the district of Weissenburg-Gunzenhausen . It is run by the Treuchtlingen-Pappenheim e. V. operated.
geography
The airfield is located just under five kilometers northwest of the historic center of Treuchtlingen at an altitude of 410 m above sea level. NN in the valley of the Altmühl near the district Bubenheim . In terms of nature, the Franconian Lake District is to the north , the Franconian Alb to the east and south and the Hahnenkamm to the west .
history
Aviation has been in operation in Treuchtlingen since the early 1950s. The Treuchtlingen-Pappenheim air sports club was founded in 1959 and moved to the premises near Bubenheim in 1961. Initially there was a private aircraft hangar and approval as a special landing site took place in 1972. In the following years, another hangar and a clubhouse of its own were built there. Since then, further expansion has been ongoing. A flight control center was added in 1985 and a new hall was built in 2005.
Airfield and equipment
The airfield is a special airfield for all types of aircraft up to 2000 kg maximum take-off weight (MTOW), helicopters up to 3500 kg and has no regular operating hours. The owner and operator is the Luftsportverein Treuchtlingen-Pappenheim e. V. Landing is only possible after prior notification ( PPR ). The place carries the ICAO identification EDNT.
The association based at the airfield offers training for association members by volunteer flight instructors on gliders, motor gliders, powered aircraft and three-axle ultralight aircraft.
There is an outbuilding with a tower (frequency 122.600 MHz), a hangar and the clubhouse.
Incidents
- On August 6, 2000, a four-person Piper PA-28 landed on an incline behind an Antonov An-2 , which caused a wing to come into contact with the ground. The aircraft was slightly damaged in the process, the occupants were uninjured.
traffic
The airfield is located directly on the district road WUG 5 , which is connected to the east-running federal road 2 via the state roads St 2230 and St 2216 .
The public transport do not operate the airfield directly, but in a few hundred meters east Bubenheim can be boarded two buses. Line 695 goes to Weißenburg , line 880.3 to Treuchtlingen station .
