The airfield Regensburg Oberhub is an airfield north of Regensburg in the Upper Palatinate . It is run by the Motorfluggruppe Regensburg e. V. operated.
geography
The airfield is 14 kilometers north of the historical center of Regensburg and four kilometers northwest of Regenstauf . It is located on a plateau between the Naab and Regen valleys at an altitude of 388 to 396 m above sea level. NN . In terms of natural space, the Bodenwöhr Bay extends to the north, to the east the terrain rises to the Bavarian Forest , to the west to the Frankenalb and to the south it slopes down to the Danube valley .
history
The airfield was occupied in 1960 and initially only had a grass runway almost 400 m long. In the 1960s aircraft hangars, the clubhouse and a gas station were added. The runway was expanded to a size of 650 × 70 m and in 1968 runway lighting was installed for the night approach. In the 1970s, more halls were added and in 1978 the runway was paved with a strip of asphalt. The filling station was rebuilt in 2000.
Airfield and equipment
The airfield is approved for all types of aircraft up to 2000 kg maximum take-off weight (MTOW), helicopters up to 3000 kg and has no regular operating hours. Flight operations are mostly on the weekends on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. or until sunset at the latest, if weather conditions permit. Landing is only possible after prior registration ( PPR ). Runway lights are available for the night approach and an additional landing permit is required. The place carries the ICAO code EDNR.
There is a multi-purpose building with a ground-level flight control center (frequency 120.430 MHz) and the managed clubhouse, hangars and a petrol station.
Incidents
- On June 15, 2008, a three-person Beechcraft Bonanza V 35 crashed on a sightseeing flight over EDNR. The plane crashed into a corn field and caught fire, fatally injuring all occupants.
- On July 8, 2009, a small Cessna 172 aircraft crashed into a rape field shortly after taking off from EDNR near Mettenbach . The machine was destroyed in the process and the two pilots, seriously injured, were rescued from the wreck.
- On August 17, 2014, a single-engine high - wing aircraft went into a tailspin on approach. During the subsequent crash landing, the landing gear buckled and the aircraft tipped over to the side in a green area off the runway. There was damage to property and land, the pilot got away with the horror.
- On March 31, 2019, at around 4:15 p.m. when approaching Regensburg-Oberhub , a double-decker crashed into a forest near the Birkenzell district of the city of Maxhütte-Haidhof and burned out there. The pilot was seriously injured and the passenger was seriously injured.

- The airfield is accessible via the state road St 2149 to Regenstauf. There is a driveway to the federal highway 15 , which continues to the federal highway 93 .
- The public transport does not serve the airport directly. In Regenstauf there are boarding options for the Regensburg – Weiden railway line .
