The airfield is approved for gliders, helicopters, motor gliders, microlights, parachutists and model airplanes up to 2,000 kilograms. Mainbullau airfield is often used as a starting point for sightseeing flights to the Spessart or over the Odenwald.
history
The former glider airfield served as an emergency landing site in the pre-war period. The first flights were undertaken in 1957 and an asphalt runway, hangars and a tower were built in 1960. The airfield was equipped with a gas station. It is the base of the Bavarian Air Rescue Squadron .
