The airfield Schoenberg is the airport of the Upper Bavarian municipality Kienberg in Traunstein district . He is from the Fliegergruppe Traunstein e. V. operated.

geography

The airfield is located two hundred meters north of the historic center of Schönberg at an altitude of 542  m above sea level. NN . The plateau is located in the northern Chiemgau , about halfway between the valleys of the Mörnbach and the Alz . The Salzach flows 20 kilometers to the east and the state border with Austria-Hungary also runs there.

history

The Fliegergruppe Traunstein e. V. was founded in 1959 and initially used the Bad Reichenhall- Marzoll airfield , and then from 1967 the glider airfield near Unterwössen . In 1981 the site in Schönberg was moved into. Initially a clubhouse and an aircraft hangar were built there. Approval as a special landing site was granted in 2001, a gas station was added and further expansion has been ongoing ever since.

Airfield and equipment

The airfield is a special airfield for aircraft of all types up to 2000 kg maximum take-off weight (MTOW), and has no regulated operating times. The operator is the Fliegergruppe Traunstein e. V. Landing is only possible after prior notification ( PPR ). The place carries the ICAO code EDPK.

There is a commercial building with a flight control center (GE 132.990 MHz), a hangar and the clubhouse. There is a petrol station with Avgas and Mogas and an oil service is possible for stopovers.

Incidents

  • On 5 May 2011, stationed at the airfield Schoenberg rushed ultralight aircraft of type Pioneer 200 after the start of a flight over the province of Salzburg in the overall management of a railway line. The machine caught fire and both occupants lost their lives and burned them together with the aircraft.
  • On July 7, 2012, a Remos GX launched on EDPK crashed 150 m west of runway 08 during landing exercises, fatally injuring the pilot.

traffic

Local roads open up the airfield via state road St 2091 to federal road 299 running to the east . The public transport do not operate the airfield directly, but one can during the day to the bus stop Schoenberg at St 2091 Paratransit be requested. In Trostberg there are also boarding options for the Traun-Alz-Bahn (weekdays) and several bus routes.
