The Mörnbach (also called Mörn ) is a year-round 3rd order flowing water that flows towards the Inn in southeastern Bavaria .

With a length of 43.66 km, it is one of Bavaria's 100 longest streams.

course

The stream rises west of Mantelsham , municipality of Schnaitsee at an altitude of about 566  m above sea level. NN . In the initially south-eastern course of the river, towards Kienberg , it takes in further source streams on its way. There it changes its direction of flow to the north and sinks below Engelsberg . It appears again south of Flohberg . The Mörnbach has two tributaries in Mörmoosen that flow into it. One is the Mitterbach , which rises near the Mittermühle inn but in the middle of the valley, and the Eschbach , which rises below Mauerberg .

Both streams unite and then flow into the Mörnbach at Auöster . The Sickenbach (during cleaning work in the Mörnbach or during floods), which splits off directly and runs past the sports field, serves as a relief .

In the center of Tüßling , the Mörnbach swings to the east and the Teisingerbach branches off to the north. This runs directly through Teising and already flows into the Inn there. The Mörnbach flows further in the direction of Altötting , where it passes partially under the Kapellplatz and then runs at the end of Im Gries . Finally it flows through Neuötting, initially parallel to the Inn. Since its original confluence was too deep, it had to be diverted there because of the backwater of the barrage of the Innwerk, which lengthened its course by 1.5 km. It now flows about 500 m above the Neuöttinger sewage treatment plant as a right tributary into the Inn at km 90.5 as a receiving water .

The Mörnbach has been an issue for some time because of flood protection. (Site plan 3 for the municipality of Tüssling)

Legends

According to legend, a little boy drowned in Mörnbach in 1489. The boy's mother found the body and laid the dead body on the altar of the Chapel of Mercy in Altötting . She prayed for his salvation. The boy miraculously came back to life. This miracle establishes the reputation as a place of pilgrimage for Altötting.
