Mörmoosen is a district of Tüßling in the Altötting district in Bavaria .

history

The first documentary mentions of Mörmoosen can be found in deeds of donation from the years between 748 and 788. During this period, four farms in Tüßling by Andaluc, Aotil and Uuelamoot were transferred to the Bishop of Passau . The same documents mention a donation from two farms in Mörmoosen by Wazamann to the Bishop of Passau.

Towards the end of the 12th century, the Hofmühle in Mörmoosen donated six courage grains and one pig to Salzburg every year. In 1285 Mörmoosen Castle returned to Bavarian ownership and shortly thereafter became the seat of a regional court. The first views of Mörmoosen can be found in Philipp Apian's land tables from 1568. 1505 Mentioned in the Cologne arbitration award (War of the Landshut Succession): Transfer of the Pfänder Wasserburg, Traunstein, Wald, Trostberg, Mörmoosen and Marquartstein to Count Palatine Friedrich until the appraisal is completed. A fresco by Hans Thonauer from 1580 shows the Mörmoosen court in the Residenz in Munich. The peasant unrest of 1634 is put down and the ringleader, the blacksmith of Mauerberg, is executed as a result. In 1750 Mörmoosen Castle was destroyed in a fire and the court was dissolved in 1804. Today only the small Peter-Paul church is left of the castle.

The name of the place and municipality was Mörmosen until 1870 . On October 1, 1970, Mörmoosen, until then part of the Mühldorf district , was incorporated into Tüßling (from now on Altötting district ). The Peter and Paul Festival (namesake of the church) (public holiday on June 29th) which takes place on the following Sunday is worth seeing.
