Adsel Castle

Gaujiena (German: Adsel) is a place in Livonia in Latvia . The place arose in the Middle Ages around the Adsel Castle , which was destroyed in 1702.

The place is now part of the Ape district , Gaujienas pagasts . In the Russian Empire he was in Walk County , Livonia Governorate .

Adsel Castle

Adsel Castle ( Latvian Gaujienas muižas pils ) was built by the Wulff family around 1850 in the classical style. The huge portico with its six colossal columns was added later. The landscape park was created at the end of the 18th century. The high school has been housed in the castle since 1922. The ensemble of castle and preserved outbuildings is now a national architectural monument of Latvia.
