The Hettstadt airfield is a special airfield of the Lower Franconian municipality of Hettstadt . He is supported by the Fluggruppe Hermann Köhl e. V. operated.
geography
The airfield is located one kilometer east of the historic town center of Hettstadt in the Hettstadter Grund parcel at an altitude of 320 m above sea level. NN . Zell am Main is three kilometers to the east .
In terms of nature, the Maindreieck lies to the east and the Spessart to the west . The state border with Baden-Württemberg runs almost ten kilometers south .
history
The Hermann Köhl flight group was founded in 1960, the airfield was initially leased and continuously expanded in the following years. The airfield has been a location of the Bavarian Air Rescue Squadron since 1976 and in 1977 it was granted unlimited approval as a special airfield .
Airfield and equipment
The airfield is approved for aircraft of all types up to 2000 kg maximum take-off weight (MTOW). The owner and operator is Fluggruppe Hermann Köhl e. V.
There are several farm buildings , a tower (frequency 122.430 MHz), hangars, a clubhouse and a refueling facility.
Incidents
- On July 29, 2001, a CASA 1.131E had an accident due to an engine failure shortly after take-off. The aircraft overturned during the emergency landing and was badly damaged.
- In June 2008, an ultralight aircraft missed the runway due to improper landing speed, crashed on the state road and crashed into a field.
- On September 24, 2017, a two-person Piper 28 crash-landed . The pilot and his flight instructor were injured and the machine was seriously damaged.

State road St 2298 runs directly to the south of the airfield and connects to federal road 27 to the east . The public transport not operated the airfield directly to the nearest pick-up points to the bus line 48 of the WVV consist in Hett city or in Waldbuettelbrunn .
