The airfield Deggendorf is a special airfield in the area of the Lower Bavarian town of Deggendorf . He is from the Luftsportverein Deggendorf-Plattling e. V. operated.
geography
The airfield is located about five kilometers west of the historic town center of Deggendorf in the Ackerbichel parcel (municipality of Stephansposching ) at an altitude of 314 m above sea level. NN . The Danube flows one kilometer to the north and the Natternberg rises two kilometers to the east at 384 m above sea level. NN .
In terms of its natural surroundings, the site is in the Gäuboden , to the north it rises to the Bavarian Forest , to the south to the Danube-Isar hill country .
history
Aviation had been in operation in Deggendorf since 1936. Flight operations on the present site began in 1963 and received approval as a special airfield in 1966. The buildings were erected in 1971 and the runway was finally asphalted in 1976.
Airfield and equipment
The airfield is approved for gliders and powered aircraft up to 3500 kg MTOW , helicopters up to 5700 kg and has no regulated operating hours. The operator is the Luftsportverein Deggendorf-Plattling e. V.
There are several outbuildings, a small control room at ground level (frequency 122.030 MHz), two hangars, and a clubhouse with a restaurant and beer garden. There is a petrol station and an oil service is available for stopovers.
Incidents
- On June 27, 2004, a motor glider of the type Scheibe SF 25 C crashed into a potato field from a small height during an unsuccessful attempt to take off with the brakes locked and the airbrakes extended.
- On September 20, 2017, a Diamond DV20 Katana light aircraft ( aircraft registration D-EVBH ) tilted during landing and crashed. The pilot was seriously injured.
traffic
A municipal road opens up the airfield via the state road St 2124 , which connects to the federal motorway 3 running to the east . The public transport does not serve the airport directly. The closest boarding option is at Pankofen station, four kilometers to the south, on the Plattling – Bayerisch Eisenstein line .
