Curling Club Winterthur

The Curling Club Winterthur , or CC Winterthur for short , was a Swiss curling club from Winterthur that existed from 1956 to 1998.

history

The Curling Club Winterthur was founded in 1956, but has been playing since the lack of an own curling hall in Winterthur in Wallisellen . The missing curling hall in Winterthur was part of the new building projects for the Zelgli ice rink , which came before the people in 1989. However, since the repeat vote was lost in 1991, the 3 million Swiss franc curling hall was never built.

In March 1998, CC Winterthur merged with CC Wallisellen to form the Wallisellen curling community .

successes

The club was among the best in the world, especially in the late 1980s until its merger with Wallisellen CC: in 1987, Marianne Flotron won bronze as Swiss champion at the world championships, and two years later she came second at the European championships. In 1993, Swiss master Dieter Würst, who came from abroad, also won bronze in the men's category , and in 1995 Marianne's brother André Flotron won the silver medal at the European Championships.
