T-cell differentiation antigen CD6 is a surface protein from the group of cell adhesion molecules .

properties

CD6 is produced by thymocytes , NK cells and B1 cells . It is a cell adhesion molecule that enhances the T cell response . CD6 binds to lipopolysaccharide from Gram-negative bacteria and lipoteichoic acids from Gram-positive bacteria and then activates the MAPK signaling pathway. CD6 is glycosylated , phosphorylated and has disulfide bridges .
