CDC23

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The protein Cell division cycle 23 homolog (S. cerevisiae) , also CDC23 , is encoded by the CDC23 gene .

function

The human protein CDC23 is very similar to its homologue Cdc23 in S. cerevisiae . The molecule is essential for the cell cycle to proceed through the G2-M damage control point . The protein is part of the anaphase promoting complex (APC), which consists of 8 protein subunits and is highly conserved in eukaryotic cells. APC catalyzes the formation of the cyclin B - ubiquitin conjugate , which causes the ubiquitin-controlled proteolysis of cyclin B. Like three other components of the APC complex, the protein contains the TPR - structural motif as a protein-protein interaction domain .

Interactions

CDC23 has been shown to interact with CDC27 .
