CDU association Brussels-Belgium

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The CDU Association Brussels - Belgium is organized as a district association and reports directly to the CDU federal executive committee . It is the party's first and so far only foreign association. The current chairman is Tim Peters .

The association was founded in 1996 in accordance with the statutes in accordance with Section 18 (7) of the CDU's statute. It is required to always have at least 100 members. It has 260 members and differentiates between ordinary and extraordinary membership. In the case of the latter, the previous district association in Germany can be retained, which, however, entails a restriction in voting rights. The aim is to politically bind CDU members who are temporarily active in Belgium. He sees himself as a representative of Germany's CDU at EU level, and also maintains an exchange with members of the European People's Party (EPP).

In 2005 it was converted into an Association sans but lucratif (asbl), an ideal association under Belgian law. For many years Thomas Jansen was chairman of the association; Tim Peters then took over from Jochen Richter in 2014.
