The locomotives of the CFL series 1030 are diesel-hydraulic small locomotives of the Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois (CFL). They are designated with the CFL numbers 1031-1033.
history
In order to replace their oldest small locomotives 1021, 1022 and 2001 , the CFL obtained offers from various locomotive manufacturers in the mid-1980s. The Jenbacher Werke in Austria received the cheapest supplier the contract to build three diesel small locomotives with 300 hp. Two of them were intended for construction and work train service and the third as a work locomotive for the Pétange workshop . The latter, the 1031, was to be equipped with radio remote control and automatic shunting couplings.
They were built by the Jenbacher works under the serial numbers 3.642.138, 3.642.139 and 3.642.140 in 1988 and correspond to the factory model DH340B36.
In 2003, the 1031 in Pétange became superfluous, as two-way vehicles are now used. Like the other two locomotives, it is now used for the CFL's infrastructure service in front of work and construction trains. Because the automatic couplings and the radio remote control were not required for this, they were expanded around 2007.
Constructive features
The spacious driver's cab with two driver's cabs arranged in parallel is located on the locomotive frame between a short and a long front end . The running gear is cushioned with rubber layer springs and shock absorbers against the frame and box structure.
The locomotives weigh 36 tons and have an output of 260 kW with an engine of the type "MTU 8 V 183 TA 12" from Daimler-Benz . This acts on the final drives via a Voith turbo reversing gear "L 2r4 sV2" and cardan shafts.
The radiator fan is hydrostatically driven, while the screw compressor and alternator are driven by V-belts. A direct and indirect compressed air brake acts on the brake calipers of the disc brakes via brake cylinders . Spring accumulators serve as holding brakes.
