The CF Caniçal is a football club from the Portuguese community Caniçal (Madeira).

history

The association was founded on September 16, 1981 on the initiative of Duarte Moniz, Ivo dos Santos Velosa and Manuel Carlos Melim. In a short time he rose to the 1ª Divisão of the Madeira Football Association. Since 1984, the club's junior teams have also been participating in the game.

With the establishment of the Zona Franca da Madeira at the end of the 1980s, the previous playing area was lost and the club moved to today's Campo do Caniçal. In the 1996/97 season he secured the title in the 1ª Divisão Madeira for the first time and rose to the national leagues. Relegation followed the following year. After winning the second title in 2004/05, the club established itself in the III Divisão Nacional and rose in 2007 as a champion in the II. Divisão . After two relegations in 2009 and 2011, the club played again in the II Divisão since summer 2012.
