The CH Casco Viejo Bilbao was a Spanish ice hockey club from Bilbao that played in the super league from 1975 to 1986 .
history
The CH Casco Viejo Bilbao was founded in 1975 and immediately took part in the Superliga , the highest Spanish ice hockey division. In their first season the team reached the cup final, a year later they won the Spanish championship for the first time in 1977 . They were able to repeat this success in 1978 , 1979 and 1981 , where they also won the double of the championship title and the national cup in 1978 and 1981 . Before the 1981/82 season , the club changed its name to CH Vizcaya Bilbao. Two more championship titles followed ( 1982 and 1983 ), as well as a final participation in the Copa del Rey (1982).
Bilbao took part in the European Cup four times from 1978 to 1983 . Their greatest success at international level was reaching the second round in the 1982/83 season after they beat CSG Grenoble from the French Ligue Magnus 7-2 and 6-4. These were her only two international successes with eight defeats.
When Spanish ice hockey got into financial difficulties in 1986, Bilbao had to stop playing despite its great success at national level.
