CLASP

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

CLASP stands for Closed Loop Audio Signal Processor. This is a hardware and software system that combines analog sound recording devices with digital audio workstations (DAW) such as Pro Tools , Nuendo and Cubase . The system combines the editing and mixing options of the DAW with the sound options of analog recordings. The developer and manufacturer of the system is the US company Endless Analog.

functionality

The system enables tape machines to be integrated into the workflow of digital audio workstations. All incoming signals are first recorded on tape and transmitted to the workstation in real time . This makes it possible to integrate analog recordings into the digital recording system without loss. The tape machines are controlled by the workstation; the previously required transfer of the analog recording to the digital system is no longer necessary.

The system consists of an analog automatic router , a control emulator for the analog tape machines, and a control plug-in for the DAW software.

On the hardware side, the system works with Apple Macintosh and Windows computers; on the software side, Pro Tools , Nuendo and Cubase are supported.
