The CR series SS6B ( Chinese  韶山 6B , Pinyin Shaoshan 6B ) are AC electric locomotives of the Chinese state railways with the Co'Co ' wheel arrangement, which are intended for use in front of passenger and freight trains. The output of the SS6B is 4800 kW. The heavy electric freight locomotive has six axles and was developed and built by the CSR plant in Zhuzhou . The SS6B was also manufactured by the Datong electric locomotive plant.

Experience from the SS6 and SS4 series as well as from the foreign models 6K and 8K , which were purchased for the Chinese state railway, flowed into the development of the SS6B, which was presented in 1992 .

The first copy was completed in December 1994 (number 1001) and shortly afterwards produced in small numbers. By June 1995, 30 SS6B had been built and put into operation. The construction plans for the SS6B were distributed to the Datong works by the former Ministry of Railways. By 2002, the Zhuzhou plant built 148 SS6B (numbers 1001 to 1148) and the other 53 (numbers 6001 to 6053) were built by the Datong plant.
