CURIA (also CVRIA ) is a database of the European Court of Justice .

Content

The CURIA database (CVRIA) contains the case law of the European Court of Justice and the other two Community courts. It offers u. a. the following contents: judgments, opinions, opinions and decisions of the Community courts in full text since 1997.

The special features are that the contents are updated daily and the contents of the official collections are available in many official languages.

CURIA (CVRIA) also offers its own library with accompanying literature. Its catalog can also be viewed online.

Search options

The full text of court documents has been recorded in the CURIA since June 17, 1997. The database offers the possibility to research according to various search criteria:

  • File number
  • Date (from - to)
  • Parties
  • Subject area
  • Search terms (full text)

The user can limit the search by means of the search field scope. In addition, the user can choose the courts to search (All - Court of Justice - General Court - Civil Service Tribunal). In the official collection of published documents, the user can choose between: judgments, resolutions, opinions, reports, guiding principles and information. In the search field "documents not published in the official collection" you can choose between: judgments and decisions. The final search field to narrow down the search is the field "Notices published in the Official Journal". Again, you have the choice between: pending cases and closed cases.

Search operators

The percent sign (%) can be used to mask one or more characters at the beginning, in the middle, or at the end of a word.

Example:% dump% results in documents that contain the words dumping or antidumping.

If multiple words are specified, documents that contain all of the specified words are searched for.

An expression in quotation marks (") is searched for exactly.

Example: "ordre juridique internal"

File number

This input field is used to search for a case by its file number.

  • T-122/99 (Case 122 of 1999 before the Court of First Instance)
  • F-16/05 (Case No. 16 of 2005 before the Civil Service Tribunal)

You can also search with part of the file number.

  • 122/05 (the cases with the number 122 from 2005 in one of the three Community courts )
  • 122 / (the cases with the number 122 from any year before one of the three Community courts)
  • / 05 (all cases from 2005 before one of the three Community courts)
