cableDSL

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

cableDSL was a Europe-wide brand name of Teles AG for an internet connection via cable connection. It was not an xDSL method; the name was only chosen for marketing reasons. cableDSL was based on feeding skyDSL into a TV cable network. In the case of cableDSL, internet access was implemented in the downstream via a cable modem , while the upstream was via the telephone line.

With cableDSL, cable networks could be upgraded with broadband internet with up to 16,000 kbit / s in the download within a very short time without any significant effort. However, the cable connection had a negative effect on the ping , which was in the range of several 100 ms.

As with skyDSL, the modem or ISDN connection required for the upstream had to be paid for separately; at full upstream the phone was also blocked.
