Cable Beach is a 22 km long sandy beach near Broome in Australia . It was named after the first telegraph cable that was laid between Broome and Java in 1889 .

The beach is a popular tourist destination, the first few kilometers to the city are very busy, but the beach can be accessed by car, so quieter areas are also accessible.

Bathing naked is allowed, but only a few do it.

Much of Broome's leisure life takes place on this beach: family picnics, dog walks, swimming and surfing trips. The beach is also known for its camel tours at sunset.
