Cairns group

Member States of the Cairns Group

The Cairns Group (English: Cairns Group ) is an interest group made up of 19 agricultural exporting countries. It was founded in 1986 shortly before the start of the GATT Uruguay Round and, according to its own information, represents around a third of world agricultural exports. It is named after the place where it first met, the Australian Cairns .

In addition to the industrialized countries Canada , New Zealand and Australia, the group mainly consists of emerging countries, namely Argentina , Bolivia , Brazil , Chile , Costa Rica , Guatemala , Indonesia , Colombia , Malaysia , Pakistan , Paraguay , Peru , Philippines , South Africa , Thailand and Uruguay .

In addition to the Uruguay Round and the WTO founding negotiations, it is particularly active in the Doha Round .
