Cala en Porter (partly Cala'n Porter ) is a place on the south coast of the Balearic Islands -Insel Minorca . It is located in the south-eastern part of the municipality of Alaior .
Cala en Porter was one of the first places on Menorca to be opened up for tourism . The reason for this was the bay right next to the village, which offered ideal conditions for use as a bathing bay due to the wide sandy beach, the shallow waves and the shallow water.
Today the place is mainly shaped by British tourists. Some streets consist almost entirely of holiday homes that are only inhabited seasonally. The western side of the bay and the adjacent hinterland ( Penyes d'Alaior , Cliffs of Alaior) are under nature protection and are not built on. The nature reserve extends in the west to the bay of Cala de Llucalari . This made it possible to prevent the complete development of the coastal section - as can be found in other Spanish seaside resorts.
