Aulus Atilius Calatinus
Aulus Atilius Calatinus was charged with betraying the city of Sora during the Samnite Wars . He was saved from the shame of the impending condemnation by some timely statements by the great Quintus Fabius Maximus Rullianus , who was three times consul and acting praetor , his father-in-law at the time ( 306 BC ) . Fabius explained that he would never have maintained his relationship with Calatinus (as patron) if the accusation were correct - from which one can also conclude that the plebeian Atilii belonged to the clientele of the Fabians . Aulus Atilius Calatinus was the father of Aulus Atilius Caiatinus .
