Calliope Tsoupaki

Calliope Tsoupaki ( Greek Καλλιόπη Τσουπάκη Kalliopi Tsoupaki , born May 1963 in Piraeus ) is a Greek composer.

Life

Tsoupaki studied piano and music theory at the Athens Conservatory and was a composition student of Yannis Ioannidis . She then studied with Louis Andriessen at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague until 1992 . Your compositions were u. a. performed at the New Music Festival in Middelburg (USA, 1990 and 1992) and the Gaudeamus International Music Week in Amsterdam (1991 and 1993).

In 1993 she won a three-month stay in Budapest for the Fondation Pepinières . Since then she has lived in Amsterdam. In addition to chamber music works and songs, Tsoupaki composed a St. Luke Passion. In this work, which premiered at the Holland Festival in 2008, she resorted to Byzantine melodies.
