Cambridge English Language Assessment offers certificate exams in English for non-native speakers. Until 2013 the name University of Cambridge was ESOL Examinations , the abbreviation ESOL standing for "English for Speakers of Other Languages". Offerings include exams for general English, professional English, academic English, English for children, and teaching qualifications.

The Cambridge English exams test the four language skills of writing, reading, listening and speaking. They are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (GER) of the Council of Europe and thus guarantee the international comparability of the examination results.

The exams are taken annually by more than four million candidates in more than 130 countries and are recognized by 13,500 universities, institutions and companies worldwide.

Cambridge English Language Assessment

Exam administration

The Cambridge English exams are taken at authorized examination centers such as adult education centers, private language schools or universities. The examination dates are uniform worldwide.
