With two extra pawns Black is apparently profit, especially since it is in the f-pawn to pawn concerns. Indeed:
1. Kg7xf6 f5 – f4
2. Kf6 – e5 f4 – f3
3. Nb1 – d2 + Kf1 – e2
4. Nd2xf3 Ke2xf3
5. Ke5 – d4 Sa8 – b6 (covers c4)
6. d5 – d6 c7xd6 stalemate
A mistake would be 1. Nb1 – d2 +? Kf1 – e2 2. Nd2xc4 f5 – f4 3. d5 – d6 c7xd6 4. Nc4xd6 f4 – f3 5. Nd6 – e4 f6 – f5 6. Ne4 – g3 + Ke3 7. Ng3xf5 + Ke3 – f4 and Black wins with f3 – f2 – f1D .
This is one of the rare examples of a sheer stalemate in the middle of the board.
In 1985 he was appointed International Chess Composition Referee by FIDE .
Private
Camorani was an upholsterer by profession.
