Camp Nathan Smith is a field camp in Afghanistan of the Canadian and US armed forces that has existed since October 15, 2005, a few kilometers northeast of Kandahar . The camp is the headquarters of the binational PRT Kandahar, which was run by the Canadians from 2005 to 2010 . That is why Camp Nathan Smith not only houses around 2,000 Canadian soldiers, but also Canadian diplomats and development workers. The second nation of this PRT is the USA , which has a regional headquarters and US soldiers stationed here. From summer 2010 the USA took over the management of the PRT Kandahar and thus also of Camp Nathan Smith.
