Candid is derived from the Latin candidus ( bright , white , shining , sincere ). It could also be translated as pure or innocent. It is common in all Romance languages.

The word candidate (or in Latin candidatus, i, m. ) Is also derived from the Latin candidus ; these elected politicians in ancient Rome wore white togas .
