Candida the elderly
Candida the Elder († around 78 in Naples ) was an early Christian saint . The name is used to distinguish it from Candida the Younger, who also came from Naples.
Candida was the wife of Asprenas , the first bishop of Naples . According to legend, she was the first person to Peter on his arrival in Naples ( Italy ) on his second voyage from Antioch to Rome encountered. Her headache subsided when Peter spoke to her, and Asprenas, who was seriously ill, suddenly recovered, whereupon both of them were baptized.
The saint's feast day is September 4th . She is the patron saint of Naples.
