Capability Brown (band)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Capability Brown was a British progressive rock band that was active in the early 1970s. The six-member group was characterized by sophisticated choral singing. Each of the band members sang and played several instruments. They are named after the landscape architect of the same name from the 18th century.

history

The group was formed in 1971, the members were Tony Ferguson (guitar, bass), Dave Nevin (keyboard, guitar, bass), Kenny Rowe (bass, percussion), Grahame White (guitar, lute, balalaika, keyboard), Joe Williams (percussion ) and Roger Willis (drums, keyboard). Ferguson and Nevin write most of the band's tracks, which include covers of lesser-known rock songs, such as Beautiful Scarlet and Redman by Rare Bird , Liar by Argent , I Am And So Are You by Affinity, and Midnight Cruiser by Steely Dan .

After their promising second album, Ferguson, White and Willis went on tour with Christie in 1974 . That was the end of Capability Brown.
