Affinity

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Affinity was a British jazz rock band that was active from 1968 to 1971.

history

Affinity was founded in 1968 by Lynton Naiff (keyboards), Grant Serpell (drums) and Mo Foster (bass), who had been making music together in various bands as students since 1965. As a guitarist they got Mike Jopp, singer of the group was Linda Hoyle. They chose the band name based on the Oscar Peterson album of the same name .

They had their first appearances in October 1968. Ronnie Scott took over their management and got them a recording contract with Vertigo Records . In 1970 her album Affinity was released , which received good reviews. Before they could tackle their second album, Hoyle left the group in early 1971.

In the middle of 1971 there was a new attempt with Vivienne McAuliffe as singer and Dave Watts as keyboardist - Naiff had meanwhile orientated himself otherwise. It came to a final dissolution, however, when Jopp, Foster and Serpell were hired by Mike d'Abo to accompany him on his American tour.
