Affinity Designer is a vector-based graphics and drawing program from the British software manufacturer Serif . The aim was to create an alternative product to Adobe Illustrator . The structure of the user interface is similar to make it easier to switch.
history
The software company Serif stopped the further development of its previous graphic software (since 1991 PagePlus, since 1994 DrawPlus and since 1999 PhotoPlus ) in favor of the Affinity series. Obviously, when Adobe turned away from software sales and switched from Creative Suite to Creative Cloud, it was recognized that there was a need for an alternative on the market. As of 2014, Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer were first developed for the Mac , with versions for Windows added in 2016. Affinity Designer was released for the iPad in July 2018 .
Serif won the Apple Design Award in 2015 for the Affinity Designer .
In 2017, Serif published the 448-page Affinity Designer Workbook.

The structure and basic functions are similar to those of Adobe's sister program . The color spaces RGB , CMYK and Lab are supported. Both open standard file types such as PSD and PNG and interpret embedded ICC color profiles . Affinity Designer can handle Pantone spot colors and the file formats SVG , EPS and PDF / X.
