Cape Spear on Newfoundland , just a few kilometers southeast of St.John’s , is the most easterly point on the North American continent .

A striking landmark is Newfoundland's second oldest lighthouse, built in 1835. Today it houses a museum. Other sights on the freely accessible site are a second lighthouse and a fort from the Second World War .
