The Capilano River in British Columbia , Canada flows north-south through the Coast Mountains and flows into Burrard Inlet , across from Stanley Park . It is one of the three main sources of drinking water for residents of the greater Vancouver area . With the Cleveland Dam, built in 1954, a reservoir was created for this purpose.

The river runs through coastal rainforest and through a granite gorge that is more than 40 meters high in places.

The Capilano mainly leads to snowmelt and water when it rains.
