Oliver Heisch
Oliver Heisch (born May 29, 1971 in Duisburg-Rheinhausen ) is a German photographer , gestalt therapist and entrepreneur . He lives and works in Cologne .
biography
After studying sports science , photography and philosophy at the Manchester Metropolitan University and the Cologne Sports University , Heisch worked for many years as a freelance photojournalist for the West German Broadcasting Corporation and the German Press Agency, among others . His photojournalistic topics are reports from the fields of sport, culture, politics, travel and society. He currently heads the BeWo Plus youth welfare organization.
Artistic creation

In 1999, Heisch accompanied the event 40 years of mustard pots on behalf of Alexandra Kassen in a Belgian circus tent on Cologne's Alter Markt . There he created his first artist portraits of Jürgen Becker , Konstantin Wecker , Hans-Dieter Hüsch , Tim Fischer , Horst Schroth , Robert Kreis and others. a. His work on young street footballers in the focal points of major European cities became known in the public sphere through his participation in the group exhibition One Game - Many Worlds for the 2006 World Cup in the Munich City Museum . His musician portraits from the world of jazz and improvised and experimental music have also been shown in exhibitions. A portrait of the Jewish composer and band leader John Zorn was shown as part of the special exhibition Radical Jewish Culture at the Jewish Museum Berlin 2011 . Heisch realized most of his studio jazz portraits as a festival photographer for the Moers Festival from 2006 to 2011 under the artistic direction of Reiner Michalke and the Cologne Nozart Festival . The portraits of Ornette Coleman , Abdullah Ibrahim , Cecil Taylor , Peter Brötzmann , Jaki Liebezeit , John Zorn, Bill Frisell , John Scofield , Marc Ribot , Lol Coxhill , Fred Frith , the band members Terrie Hessels and Andy Moor von were created in Moers and Cologne The Ex , Han Bennink , Achim Tang , Paul Lytton , Hiromi and many more. A large part of his photographic work was shown in the framework program of the Photokina at the 20th International Photoszene Cologne 2010 in the Altes Pfandhaus. The concert hall in the Stadtgarten Cologne regularly shows exhibitions by the Cologne photographer.
Heisch has been accompanying the Tour de France as a photojournalist since 2002. He was a member of the Cologne artclub gallery , to which Gunter Demnig and Frank Baquet also belong.
