Frank Baquet

Frank Baquet (born June 16, 1964 in Sieglar ) is a contemporary, freelance German photo artist .

Life

Frank Baquet lives and works in Troisdorf , North Rhine-Westphalia. While studying economics and business administration in Bonn and Cologne , which he successfully completed in 1993, he began working as a freelance photographer and communication designer in 1987 . In 1990 the first works in the field of artistic photography were created . Since 1993 he has also worked as a lecturer in photography , digital image processing and photographic fine printing processes . He is a member of the professional association of visual artists as well as a member of the German Society for Photographic Fine Printing Processes . Since 2012 he has been director of the Kunsthaus Troisdorf and the municipal gallery in the Kunsthaus Troisdorf. He is the founder and artistic director of Experimentale, a festival for experimental music that has been taking place at the Kunsthaus Troisdorf since 2018.

Works and artistic creation

Frank Baquet's works occupy a borderline position between photography and painting / graphics . Although his works seem like painting at first glance, it is technically a question of photography. This play with the genres distinguishes his works. Baquet shows that abstraction does not have to be reserved exclusively for the original field of painting, but that this can also take on impressive form through artistic photography . While he was still processing large-format black-and-white barite prints in his own laboratory in the 1990s , digital photography is now his substantial working medium. Frank Baquet's works always reflect his consequent negation of the character of reality, which exposed him as one Representatives of contemporary subjective photography .

Frank Baquet's works have been exhibited both nationally and internationally; for example in Italy , France and Venezuela .
